Medical disclaimer. MedExplainer provides simplified, informational explanations of user-provided medical information. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment recommendations, prescriptions, or clinical decision support, and it does not replace consultation with a licensed healthcare professional.
Emergency notice: If you think you may have a medical emergency or severe symptoms, contact local emergency services immediately.

1) Overview

MedExplainer is an educational application designed to help users better understand medical information they provide (e.g., laboratory values, symptoms, and uploaded medical documents). The Service is intended strictly for informational and educational purposes.

2) Information you provide

You may voluntarily provide the following information when using the Service:

  • Patient age (required to display age-appropriate reference context; informational only).
  • Optional name or identifier (not required; if provided, it may help you label a report locally).
  • Symptom descriptions or medical questions entered in text form.
  • Uploaded documents such as PDF/DOC and images (e.g., lab reports, imaging reports, X-ray, ultrasound photos).

3) How data is processed (Phase 1–2)

When you submit a request, the information is transmitted via HTTPS to MedExplainer’s backend server for the purpose of generating an explanatory response. The backend forwards the request to a third-party AI processing provider (OpenAI API) solely to generate the explanation, and then returns the generated response to your device.

MedExplainer does not permanently store on its servers:

  • Symptom descriptions
  • Uploaded documents or medical images
  • Generated explanations

Uploaded files may be processed transiently in memory and, in limited cases (e.g., OCR processing of PDFs), may be written to temporary server storage for the duration of processing only. Such temporary files are deleted immediately after processing completes.

The Service is designed to be session-based (stateless): requests are processed to generate a response and are not saved as a server-side history.

4) Local device storage

The current version does not require account registration. If you choose to save a generated explanation or report, it is saved locally on your device. MedExplainer does not provide cloud storage of medical records in Phase 1–2.

5) Minimal technical logs

To maintain service reliability and security, MedExplainer may generate minimal technical logs that do not contain your medical content (for example, request metadata such as total text length and number of attached files). These logs are not used for advertising, profiling, or analytics tracking across apps.

6) Third-party processing

MedExplainer uses OpenAI API as a data processor solely to generate AI-based explanations. OpenAI processes requests under its own privacy and security policies. MedExplainer does not use medical data for advertising, marketing, profiling, or analytics.

7) Tracking and advertising

MedExplainer does not use tracking technologies, cross-app tracking, or third-party advertising SDKs. No health data is shared for advertising purposes.

8) Data security

Data transmissions are encrypted using HTTPS. Temporary processing files (if created for OCR) are deleted immediately after use. MedExplainer applies reasonable technical safeguards to protect data during transmission and processing.

9) Accuracy notice

Responses are generated automatically by an AI system and may contain inaccuracies or incomplete information. You should verify important information with a licensed healthcare professional.

10) Age restriction (Minors)

The Service is intended for users aged 16+ and is not designed for or directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children.

If a parent or legal guardian chooses to use the Service to enter information about a minor, the parent/guardian is responsible for providing that information and supervising the use of the Service.

11) Changes to this policy

If MedExplainer introduces user accounts, cloud storage, or expanded data functionality in future versions, this Privacy Policy will be updated prior to release of such features.

12) Contact

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, contact: support@medexplainer.online.
